His research interests focus upon infectious disease epidemiology (esp. hepatitis B and C infections, HIV/AIDS, TB, vaccine preventable diseases), global health, spatial epidemiology and tobacco abuse. He has expertise in the design, conduct and analysis of large scale epidemiological studies and is trained in epidemiology and biostatistics, data management of large datasets and advanced statistical analysis as well as proposal and grant writing. He has taught a variety of courses ranging from basic epidemiology and biostatistics, research methods, communicable and non-communicable disease control to advanced courses in epidemiology. He is a member of various international epidemiological associations and has been a reviewer for multiple leading scientific journals like JAMA and Bulletin of World Health Organization. He has numerous publications and has published in high impact factor journals like Lancet and Lancet HIV. His software expertise range from purely statistical software like Epi info, SPSS, SAS, and Strata to GIS software like ArcGIS, GeoDA and SaTScan.
